# Members Directory

> Work the Members list like a directory with saved views, filters for groups, tags, sign-in, and giving, a column chooser, CSV export, and bulk tagging.

# Members Directory

The **Members** page is where staff find people, build lists, and act on them. This guide covers the admin list in the web dashboard. The member-facing directory in the mobile app, household management, and privacy settings are covered in [Member Directory](/product/member-directory).

## Before You Start

* Sign in to your admin account and open **Church Management → Members**.
* The summary tiles at the top (Total, Active, Inactive, New this month) are clickable. Each one switches the list to the matching view.
* Saved views and your column choice are remembered on the browser you are using, not on your account.

## Choose a View

Views are ready-made lists across the top of the page:

| View | Who is in it |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| All members | Everyone in your church. |
| Active / Inactive | Members by status. |
| New this month | Members added since the first of the month. |
| Not in a group | Members who belong to no community group. |
| Never logged in | Members who have never signed in to the mobile app. |
| Lapsed givers | Members who gave last year but have not given this year. |

Click a view to apply it. The filters and search box still work on top of a view, so you can narrow "Never logged in" to one gender or one group.

## Add One Member

Open **Members → Add New Member** to enter a name and email without preparing a
CSV. Other profile details are optional. This action requires the Members
permission and queues a welcome email with sign-in details. Only add someone
you are authorized to invite. Your plan's member limit still applies.

If saving fails, the drawer keeps your details and shows the error so you can
correct it and try again. After success, the directory and counts refresh.

When your directory is empty, you can choose **Add New Member** for one person
or **Import Members** for a CSV. If a search has no matches, **Clear filters**
clears the search and filters to show all members again.

## Filter and Sort

The filter row sits under the views:

* **Search** by name, email, or phone.
* **Gender** and **Status**.
* **Group** — a specific community group, or **Not in a group**.
* **Tag** — any tag you have added on member profiles.
* **Giving** — **Gave this year** or **Lapsed givers**.
* **Joined since** — a date.

Each active filter appears as a chip under the filter row. Click the × on a chip to remove that one filter, or **Clear filters** to return to **All members** with no filters. Click a column heading to sort by name, groups, or last login.

## Save Your Own View

1. Set the filters you want.
2. Click **Save view**, type a name such as "Youth parents with no group", and confirm.
3. The view appears alongside the ready-made ones. Click the × on it to remove it.

## Choose Columns

Click **Columns** to show or hide phone, gender, location, tags, groups, status, and last login. The member's name is always shown. Your choice stays until you change it on this browser.

## Export to CSV

**Export** downloads the members in the current view and filters as a CSV file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. It includes name, email, phone, gender, age group, location, status, tags, number of groups, last login, and the date the member joined.

To export only some people, tick them first and use **Export selected** in the bulk bar.

## Work With Several Members at Once

Tick the boxes beside the members you want, or the box in the header to select the whole page. A bulk bar appears with:

| Action | What it does |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Add tag | Type a tag and press **Add tag** to put it on everyone selected. |
| Add to group | Choose a community group and press **Add to group**. Everyone selected joins as an active member. People already in the group are skipped, and if the group has a capacity and fills up, the confirmation says how many were not added. |
| Message | Opens Communications with these members as recipients. |
| Export selected | Downloads just these rows as a CSV. |
| Clear selection | Unticks everyone. |

## Open a Member

Click a row to open the member's profile, where you can read their full history, add notes, and manage tags. See [Member Profiles](/product/member-profiles).

## Notes

* **Import members** and **Import history** are still in the page header for bulk uploads.
* A member with an unsent or expired invitation still shows the **Resend invite** action on the row.
* Tags added in bulk are the same tags that appear on each member's profile and in the tag filter.
* Because saved views live on the browser, a colleague will not see the views you saved. Share the filter settings instead.
